About Coach Alex
Overlooked to Recruited
I went from having zero college soccer offers to becoming a conference champion and a full-time college starter.
I'm a licensed soccer coach through U.S. Soccer and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. But before any of that, I was just a high school kid who couldn't get a single coach to call back.
Growing up, I wasn't a standout. I didn't play for a prestigious high school or an elite club team. By senior year, after doing everything the recruiting playbook says to do (ID camps, showcases, hundreds of emails to college coaches) I had zero offers.
At the last minute, I got a chance to join a Division 2 program in my hometown, University of Indianapolis, but only on the reserve team. Instead of just working harder at the same generic approach, I built real structure into my development: film study, strength training, and technical work with an actual purpose behind it.
It worked. I earned a call-up to the first team, helped the program reach the #1 ranking in the country, and won a conference championship my senior year.
After graduating, I spent that summer playing semi-professional soccer with the South Bend Lions in USL League 2, starting all 11 games. Wanting to pursue my master's degree with my final year of eligibility, I transferred to Purdue Northwest, effectively starting over at a brand-new program. That team climbed to the #8 ranking in the country, and I played 25 NCAA games at center back and midfield. The following summer, I played a second season of USL League 2 with River Light FC.
None of it happened because I was the most talented player in the room. It happened because I had a real process, and I stuck with it, even when I had to start over from scratch.
Now, I use everything I learned, as a player and through years of studying athletic development, to help overlooked high school defenders become the exact type of player college coaches want to recruit.

My Journey
Purdue Northwest
AUG 2024 - DEC 2025

I played 2 seasons as a graduate student at PNW. As one of the oldest players on the team, I assumed a leadership role, offering guidance and reassurance to younger players. In 2024, we started the season flying, peaking as the #8 ranked D2 team in the nation. I played 25 NCAA games for PNW at center back and in the midfield.

River Light FC
MAY 2025 - JUL 2025

Living in Aurora, Illinois, I played alongside top talent from schools like Notre Dame, IU, and Louisville. Head coach David Caban was a great leader, bringing a multitude of experience from his professional playing career. I made 7 appearances in the USL2 season with 2 starts.

South Bend Lions FC
MAY 2024 - JUL 2024

In South Bend, I lived with teammates from 10 different countries! Building off each other's energy, we trained hard all summer, often twice a day. In South Bend, I was able to simultaneously work a part-time coaching job. I started 11 of our 11 USL2 games that summer, playing outside back and winger. I scored 1 goal against Oakland County FC.

University of Indianapolis
AUG 2020 - DEC 2023
Over four years at Uindy I developed greatly. I played 29 games with the reserve team before moving to the first team where I played alongside many future professional players. In 2021 we became the #1 ranked D2 team in the nation. In my senior season we won the GLVC Tournament. With the first team I played in 13 games mainly in the spring.
